For those who don't know me, I am a 47 year old Alamance county native and Williams High School graduate.  I've worked for esteemed local businesses such as Harrison's Restaurant and Tapco Underwriters.  I was the owner of an Allstate Insurance agency in Greensboro for 5 years and have currently been a domestic engineer for the past 4 years.  My gorgeous and loving wife, an Eastern Alamance graduate, travels the world ensuring the mining, oil/gas and forestry industries are operating safely and efficiently.  We have 2 feral sons - Liam, age 13 and Sullivan, age 2.  Every day, the boys and I just try and make sure we don't burn down the house before mom gets home.  The boys are handsome and healthy, and I truly outkicked my coverage when my wife allowed me to marry her.  I'm so thankful for her support and for the inspiration that the boys are to us every day.

As a 17 year survivor of testicular cancer, I'm doing this one for the boys.  For the 3 other guys in my high school class who had testicular cancer.  For my 2 college roommates who had testicular cancer. (Am I the bad luck charm!?!)  I'm doing this because in the grand scheme of things, I was much more fortunate than many people.  I'm even lighter on my feet!

Sometimes my cancer experience feels insignificant compared to what many others have to go through.  I have faith in God, was presented with a potential positive outcome, was surrounded by familiar faces - in a hospital that I grew up in - with a family larger than a small army circling the wagons in protection of me AND had the ability to come out of it without financial ruin.  Sadly, that that is not the case for everyone.

I am honored to take on the role at Champion and that the Denise Marie Flaherty Foundation feels that I am someone who can help them reach their goals.  It is humbling when your community thinks you can help, and I hope to represent their mission and rise to the occasion. I am working with the DMF Foundation so they can provide assistance to people in their fights against cancer.  Cancer can be isolating, but through the DMF Foundation we can make sure they are not alone in their time of need.

It's not often that you get to make a direct impact on someone's life.  Through this fundraiser, you get to do just that.  Thank you so much for considering donating to my Team.  I am honored and blessed to have your support.  Thank you for allowing the Denise Marie Flaherty Foundation to represent your donation, your community and your memories by providing assistance to those in need.
